Entry 5 Education

Ever since we were children our parents told us that if we don't get a good education we wont have money and will be stuck working at McDonald's our whole lives. In a way this is true and it isn't. I was reading an article by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey about education (http://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/2016/09/17/arizona-needs-more-college-grads-ducey/90363958/) and he mentioned a lot of good points. Even though our parents said that if we don't have a good education well be working at McDonald its not all that true. For example if you don''t have a high school diploma you wont be able to work there. And if you only have a high school diploma you may be working there for a very very long time or may not even have a job. As governor Ducey stated, " the unemployment rate for individuals with only a high school diploma is nearly double that of those with a bachelor’s degree."  So someone with a bachelors degree is more likely to get the job they applied for rather then someone who only has a high school diploma.

Me for an example. I know plenty about cars engines, how to fix them and stuff, I'd say I know as much as the average mechanic, i learned everything i know in my high school automotive class and through experience. but if i applied at a dealership for a mechanic position and turned in a resume stating that I only have a high school diploma they might put me aside if they see someone with the same experience as me but with some type of degree above a high school diploma. And it makes total scene.

Now Governor Ducey did say that School budget was increased by $142 million to K-12 schools in Arizona. This money could really help out schools for better text books better salary for teachers among other things. Hopefully this helps children get better education and helps them get a diploma beyond college.
